The commander name was shared by many Studebaker models company did not have the financial resources to add another body type to the model line manufactured by the Studebaker Corporation of South Bend, Indiana (United States) and Studebaker of Canada Ltd of Walkerville and, later, Hamilton, Ontario (Canada).
