America’s Sports Car. The first vette rolled off the assembly line in 1953, and the Corvette has a long list of both design and performance breakthroughs. This car has a original infamous L46 350 HP / 350 small block Chevrolet, often referred to as the “Mighty Mouse”. Whenever the horsepower is = too or above the cubic inches, be ready for the rush, and to molded into, in this case a high back bucket seat with Factory included head rest unless specifically omitted by the customer. This car has both a black convertible top and a Cortez hard top. Both in great condition. Factory correct chrome distributor heat shield. Ribbed Aluminum valve covers circle style Corvette branding. Chrome air cleaner with Turbo Fire 350 Horsepower sticker. California built car so it has a smog pump. Chrome vacuum canister brake assist. Brand NEW cast iron exhaust manifolds. Muncie 4 speed transmission. Posi traction rear end. See engine stamp and casting photos. Also transmission #’s. The 350 featured a cast-iron block, which included thicker bulkheads & more substantialized main bearing caps. All L46 350CI small-blocks were also of a four-bolt construction. In 1969 the 327 V8 was stroked to 3.48-inches, thereby increasing the engine’s displacement to 350 cubic inches. A forged crankshaft and pistons were also used. A compression ratio of 11.0:1 was also standard for the famed L46 350 cubic-inch small-block V8. The L46 featured a hydraulic lifter camshaft, as opposed to a solid lifter alternative. This eliminated the need for guide plates, such as those that are necessitated in solid lifter engines. The L46 featured a set of cast-iron cylinder heads, which were fitted with 2.02” intake valves, and 1.60” exhaust valves. The infamous double hump or “Camel Back” heads. The L46 featured the same valves that were in GM’s L82 and LT-1 powerplants. Topping the L46’s heads sat a low-rise cast-iron intake manifold. This intake was said to have been designed in this manner to provide ideal fitment beneath the C3 Corvette’s low-lying hood. Unlike many prior GM small-blocks, the L46 did not feature a Holley carburetor. Instead, a Rochester Q-Jet carburetor came standard. 350/350 horsepower. A famous street and strip proven Chevrolet powerplant. Backed by a long history of more than 50 years of almost bullet proof ( sans missing a gear and over revving the engine, but any engine is prone to this from 4 to 12 cylinders ) The 350ci V8 was a continuing extension of GM’s decade-old small-block engine series which develop began in 66 and was released in the Camaro only to beat Fords series of small block Mustangs. This platform served as the mainstay of the Corvette line for over three decades AND included the infamous LS series of fuel injected 350’s. 69 changed little from 68, but “Sting Ray” was now one word as was badged on the front fenders. This was the last year for the L88 Corvette, one of most sought after, highest priced vettes of the era & this vette has many of the same features Minus the extra hp & torque, but as mentioned above this 350/350 HP has plenty of “get off the line go fast!! Silverstone Silver became Cortez Silver this year. The double-action door latch was modified, with the push-button eliminated from the exterior door handle. A first year modification, the wide “pull up” door handle which was not only more mechanically sound but it also streamlined the lines and look of the car. The body is crisp and clean, featuring the unmistakable “gill like” side body vents. Hide Away headlights work perfectly. Doors are professionally hung and open and close smooth as glass. Laser straight lines, body parts fit and gaps. Beautiful Cortez Silver paint. All exterior chrome, trim and emblems are brand new or original in like new condition. The interior is Black in NEW condition. Floor console with chrome pull up parking brake lever. Cubby. Chrome both sides “Trigger style, pull up shifter”, topped by round black. Left and Right taillight, turn and brake light indicators at the top of the console. Pristine door panels, bucket seat Upholstery (buckets have Headrests). Impeccable carpeting and kick panels. In Dash Tack. Full line of gauges, gas, temp, alt (battery) and oil pressure. Correct ORIGINAL FACTORY corvette steering wheel has a few blemishes, reduced from 16 to 15 inches allowing easier access into the vehicle and more leg room. Wheels were/ are 8-inches wider providing more asphalt grip in the posi rear but also allowing more tread for “wet” weather, and improved handling. Correct Rallye Wheels with beauty rings and Corvette center caps.
