Description

1953 Willys-Jeep CJ-3B 1/4 Ton, this is a military-built Jeep, not made to look like one and surely saw service on a military base. First manufactured by Willys-Overland in 1953, a first-year model. It followed closely in the footsteps of its 1/4 ton predecessors, the CJ-2A and CJ-3A, civilian models mostly targeted to agricultural and industrial applications. With the close of WWII, Willys-Overland began to promote the CJs as civilian models that stretched beyond the scope of the militarized MB, pitched as "all-purpose" vehicles in ads of the time, first with the CJ-2A in 1945, followed by an updated but still very similar version (CJ-3A) from 1949 - 1953. Willys-Overland was sold to the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation, who adopted the Willys Motors name until 1964. Although similar in many ways to the 2A and 3A, the 3B had one major difference: the new F-Head Hurricane engine, which delivered more horsepower, but demanded a higher hood, and a structural feature that distinguished it from earlier CJs. The new Hurricane engine delivered improved marketability in performance, with larger intake valves in the head and increased fuel economy. CJ-3Bs are difficult to obtain, thus rare, especially in this condition. Engine Type: 134 CID (2.2L) F4-134 Hurricane 14. Number of Cylinders: 4. Cubic-In. Displacement: 134.2 cu. in. ( 2199,53 cm 3). Horsepower: 72@4000 rpm.Torque: 114 ft-lb. (15,7 kg-m.) Compression Ratio: 6.9 to 1. Valvetrain: F-Head. Converted to 12 volt charging system. One Repaint Woodstock or Willow green in very presentable condition. Good lines & gaps. Passenger side mounted spare tire. Drop down rear tailgate. Heavy duty front bumper with tall hook/hoop. It appears that the headlights in the running lights bulbs and the bezels have been replaced. Fold down front window. The undercarriage and components are in very good condition for a vehicle of this age. Interior- all interior panels were painted 1/8" Masonite. Steel padded Saddle / Tan bucket seats front and the rear jump seat facing forward. Steel dash. All original gauges except for a new alt/battery gauge. Steel wheels. Off Terrain deep tread tires.
