1970 Chevelle Super Sport 454 LS6, this special low mile example was ordered in the rarest of all the standard colors offered, Tuxedo Black upper and lower (Code 19-19), with (Code 755) Black bench seat interior. The car also has a very early production build date, the car was assembled in the KANSAS CITY plant the 4th week of December 1969, the production day was December 30th 1969, per the NCRS shipping data report, and the car was delivered to Bob McDorman Chevrolet in Canal Winchester Ohio, which is just outside of Columbus. Factory Options: Muncie M-22 Manual Transmission, CRV 3:31 gears, F41 suspension, Power Front Disk Brakes, U14 Tach and Gages, Tinted Glass, Antenna in windshield. This car is a true time capsule with only 19,570 miles on the odometer that is documented by the previous ownership titles showing mileage as actual, it also retains its original CRV 12 Bolt Posi Rear End fitted with the 3:31 gears, (housing casting date L – 4 – 9) December 4th, 1969, with an assembly date of (12-12-B1) December 12th 1969 which matches the production trim tag. __Also, we would like to point out that the car still retails its factory original production “single feed 3/8’s fuel line” which was only used in the early production high performance LS6 models, it also has the correct factory 6,500 tach included in the U14 gage option, this strongly indicates that this car was originally equipped with the 450HP LS6 at the point of assembly. The car retains all of its original sheet metal, window glass, floors and trunk. The car was completely dismantled in 1999 and taken down to bare metal and went through a full frame off restoration, photos of the work are available upon request. It at this point the cars build sheet was found under the left fender well, but has been since been lost over a 20 year period as the car changed hands 4 or 5 times. The car retains all of its original bright work including factory assembly line Chevrolet bumpers, T3 headlights, and the very rare early taillights, even the rear bumper pad is original OEM, all Super Sport badging is original to the car. The interior of the car is original not reproduction, the dash, bench seat, headrests, rear-seat show like new. The seat-belts are dated to the cars production week, the door panels, headliner, sun-visors are assembly line original. The U14 gage panel, clock, 6,500 RPM tachometer, and speedometer showing 19,570 miles are all working and are original to the car. The BB master cylinder, power brake booster, brake calipers (700 – 701) and two-piece original rotors are all date code correct, even the original AO coded Super Sport steel (14x7) inch wheels are dated to the car, (1) AO coded wheel dated 11-24-69 (3) AO coded wheels dated 11-25-69, all trim rings and center caps are NOS and in like new condition. The car was owned by several private collectors and was only driven 138 miles after being dismantled and painted from 9/24/99 to 3/30/19 based on past titles and DMW documentation. __ Unfortunately the cars original matching numbers 454 LS6 motor was lost very early in its life, so the current owner decided to restore the entire drive-train back to 100% original date code correct finding only the best of the best in high cost vintage LS6 parts, starting with a very rare standard bore 454 LS6 (4 Bolt-Main) CE Block (3963512) with a casting date (L-1-9) December 1st 1969 these CE replacement blocks were limited in small numbers and were sequentially stamped over-the-counter exchange blocks if you happen to blow up your motor in 1970. The machine shop took this block 030 over. Over $50,000 dollars went into the restoration of the LS6 motor and drive train, the following is just a short list of some of the date code correct parts used. [CE Block (3963512) (4 Bolt Main) stamped # (CE07818) with a casting dates (L-1-9) December 1st 1969] [The machine work completed took this block to 030] [Matching set of restored rectangle port heads (3964291) both dated (L-9-9) December 9th 1969] [Original LS6 Steel Crank (standard/standard), new unused vintage 7/16 rods, 030 Over SpeedPro 11:25 to 1 compression pistons. (FYI SpeedPro purchased TRW and uses the original piston molds).] [Correct factory spec solid camshaft 520 lift / 520 duration, new solid lifters, pushrods and rockers, and oil pump with factory oil pan, the valve covers are vintage survivor and still have the original flash chrome finish.] [Holley Carburetor (9B2) 2nd week of December 69 (3967477-GG – List 4577) with (4519 / 6328) metering blocks.] [Factory Aluminum (3963569) intake manifold, correct AC 727 single fuel pump.] [RH-3916178 Right Exhaust manifold Dated (L-10-9) December 10th 69] [LH-3909879 Left Exhaust Manifold (L-21-9) December 21st 69] [3969811 water pump date (L-4-9) December 4th, 1969] [1111437 Distributor dated (9-M-10) December 10th 1969] [1100837] Alternator dated (9 M 15) 12/15/69] [Muncie M-22 (4) Speed Manual Transmission dated (P0S03C) November 03 1969] [Original Muncie Shifter and Shifter Black Shift Ball].
