Formerly named Crestliner but continued as Ford’s top-of-the-line model. Striking front 3-piece grille, the center piece reminiscent of an airplane propeller w / a “bullet tip” and symmetrical 4 vertical lines on each side. The bottom piece large with large bumper guards, both wrap around @ the ends. Lastly @ top a curved piece that merges the grille w the appealing front sheet metal sculptured shape of hood and headlights. Bright chrome Airplane like hood ornament. “Ford” rectangle shaped emblem composed of 3 triangles red, white and black topped with “Ford” script. Manufactured from 1952 - 1954. The Ford Crestline is a beautiful full size luxury car. Production of the Ford Crestline lasted until 1954, and the model was replaced by the Ford Fairlane. Ford introduced all-new models for 1952, trumping Chevrolet by a full year. Continental kit spare tire. Center fill fueling eliminates pump jockeying. Fords “Automatic Ride Adjust”. The car is very modern looking, with a wraparound windshield and curved rear glass, and more trim and exterior features to break up the earlier “Shoebox” Ford’s look. 1st year that Power steering became an option. Interior - Harmonized Interior. A luxury mix of Black & Red Leather, vinyl and cloth. 3/4 circle Gauge & Speedometer cluster with blacked out ribbed bottom edge. Gauges, not warning lines are arranged in a curve around the speedometer. The dash is painted black molded steel with graceful shapes with a embedded clock dead center in the top edge of the dash. Paint - Born Raven Black now a professional 2 stage base coat / clear coat Vermilion Red. Excellent sheet metal, body fit, lines and gaps. All the exterior chrome, trim, lines and gaps are good. Great door handles, mirrors and emblems. Gold painted Flat Head 239-cid L-head engine, a two-barrel carburetor with a higher compression ratio brought her up to 110 hp. All original engine and components including a “oil bath” air cleaner. (The air cleaner is actually wire mesh that you soak with oil, thus the term / name oil bath). Generator, not an alternator. Cast iron exhaust manifolds. Dual exhaust with triangular flat chrome tips. 3 speed manual transmission. Steel wheels painted to match the car. Ridged “moon” styled hubcaps with embossed “Ford” letters. Extra wide white wall tires.
