M code 4.8 L 292 Y block. Originally a 4000 series Holly 4- barrel carburetor, also referred to as a teapot, or tea kettle due to unusual shape. 200 horsepower. Compression: 6.4:1. Main Bearings: 5. Cylinder Block: Cast-iron. Cast-iron exhaust manifold, black steel valve covers with the Thunderbird script in white as this engine was available in the Thunderbird and the Victoria Model Fords of 1956. Cast iron exhaust. The original oil, bath style air cleaner has been replaced with a modern paper filter element with the Edelbrock housing.
Body and paint - nice 2 tone Peacock Green & Colonial White paint. A great feature of this car is the dynamic chrome side trim molding. It’s amazing design work that starts on top of the fender at the hooded headlight and meets dead center in the middle of the door, then arches and levels out horizontally back even with the taillight. The front half is smooth, and the rear half is four molded pieces that end in a mock grill/ vent rectangle shape. Single hooded lights. Beautiful wide front grill that wraps around turn signal indicators on each end. Chrome bumpers look great front bumper features bumper guards and the rear bumper features exhaust out through the bumper. Rocket engine styled taillights (non-pointed) shared with the Thunderbird that have back up lights sitting on top in rounded, triangular, chrome mounts.
Interior - diamond blue interior trim color. Light Blue and White vinyl split bench seat with beautiful stitching, ribbed upper centers, two buttons in the center are a luxurious touch. Matching two tone door panels. Large three spoke factory, original steering wheel with the Ford tricolored logo in the center of the horn button to tone dash with gauges, not warning lights. Original dark carpeting and black kick panels created a great contrast with the rest of the interior.
“Club Sedan” 2 door post. Named for Henry Ford's Dearborn estate, Ford's premium Fairlane line debuted alongside the original Thunderbird for 1955. The Fairlane received new styling for 1956 model. The Fairlane and the Victoria models are attributed with pulling Ford out of its sales slump and putting them back In competition with the other manufacturers of the day. Oversized factory radiator and a rigid steel fan blade helped keep her running cool.
